Making History for Over 80 Years...

Established in 1943, IBG LEGAL has become a pillar of professionalism, dedication, and excellence in the practice of real estate law. Rooted in a rich blend of Mexican and English heritage, our firm has grown across four generations of accomplished lawyers and key locations within Mexico, creating a heritage both profound and extensive.
Our lineage begins with David Lawrence Gregg (1819-1868), a revered American politician, diplomat, and lawyer. Born in Illinois, Gregg held numerous influential positions, from serving in the Illinois House of Representatives to the role of United States Attorney, and as the Illinois Secretary of State. His significant contributions to Illinois' political landscape are still remembered today.

In 1853, President Franklin Pierce recognized Gregg's political aptitude and appointed him as the United States minister to Hawaii. His diaries from this tenure offer a unique insight into the intricate process of Hawaii's annexation to the United States, his interactions with various influential figures, and the governmental issues of the era.
Beyond his diplomatic career, Gregg served as Hawaii's finance minister, further solidifying his connection with the island nation. Before his commendable political career, Gregg practiced law in Joliet, Illinois, having graduated from Union College in Schenectady, New York. He also edited the Joliet Courier, Will County, Illinois' first newspaper, alongside his legal practice.

Ignacio Allende
Gregg's legacy took an international turn when his son married the daughter of Ignacio Allende, a prominent figure in Mexico's independence struggle. This alliance connected Gregg's family with a crucial chapter in Mexican history, extending his influence from the United States and Hawaii to Mexico. Drawing from this influential lineage, JFG, a direct descendant of David Lawrence Gregg, established IBG LEGAL in downtown Mexico City's "El Centro". His distinctive European background and unwavering commitment to the legal profession laid the groundwork for our firm's legacy.
Under the leadership of JFG's daughter, PGL, our firm underwent significant expansion, moving from the bustling neighborhood of Colonia Roma to the esteemed residential district of Lomas de Chapultepec. Here, we have provided our services to a diverse clientele, including leading developers and high-profile investors, reflecting our unyielding commitment to excellence.
In 2008, we further broadened our reach by opening a branch in Cancún. This extension allowed us to cater to an expanded client base, including individuals, land developers, and hotels, underscoring our versatility and adaptability in the ever-evolving real estate landscape.
As we forge ahead, we remain deeply rooted in our rich history, ensuring that each client and case's unique needs are met. Our team, comprised of professionals educated at prestigious institutions such as Sorbonne University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), and Cornell University, brings a wealth of expertise in diverse aspects of real estate law. We are not merely your attorneys; we are your partners, committed to guiding you through the intricate landscape of real estate law.
